Privacy policy
This page explains what information ainewground (ainewground.com) and the tools it uses handle. The operator is Abover Co., Ltd. (Republic of Korea; representative director: Hogeol Lim). Effective October 16, 2026. The Korean version is the governing text.
What this site collects
- There are no accounts or logins. The only personal information you give us directly is the email address and reading choice you enter in the newsletter sign-up form and emails you send to hello@ainewground.com.
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4): pages viewed, the referring link, approximate location (city level), browser and device type, the language edition you read, and whether the newsletter form was submitted (your email address is not sent). Google uses the IP address only to estimate location and does not store it (GA4 default); Google signals are off. Cookies _ga and _ga_* remain for up to two years, and visit records are deleted after 14 months. To opt out, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or block cookies and scripts in your browser. Articles and maps work the same either way.
- Transfer abroad: (1) items = the visit information above and cookie identifiers (2) country, timing, method = to the US and other countries where Google has servers; your browser sends it directly to Google (google-analytics.com, googletagmanager.com) each time you open a page (3) recipient = Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) (4) purpose and retention = visit statistics, 14 months (5) how to refuse = see "To opt out" above.
- We do not use advertising cookies or ad-measurement code (such as the Meta Pixel) on this site. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
- When you choose a language (🌐 menu at the top, language row at the bottom, or the "View this page in …?" bar), that language code alone is kept in the cookie
ang_langfor one year. Next time you open ainewground.com, the server reads only this value to send you to that edition. If you close the bar with ×, a "closed" flag stays in session storage (sessionStorage) until you close the tab. Neither identifies you. - Filter and sort choices on market-map pages are kept only in your browser's storage (localStorage). They are never sent to a server and disappear when you clear site data.
Newsletter
- What we collect: your email address and your reading choice (Tue/Thu ANG⁺ briefings and/or Friday editor's notes; both by default).
- Purpose: sending the ainewground newsletter (currently bundled every two weeks), and sending only what you chose once we start sending by day.
- Consent: at sign-up we ask separately for consent to the collection and use of personal information and to receiving promotional messages. Neither box is pre-checked. Because the newsletter is a commercial publication, each issue may end with a clearly labeled "Ad" section (the publisher's courses or partner ads).
- Confirmation: you are added to the list only after you click the button in the confirmation email.
- Retention: until you unsubscribe. Clicking "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email removes you from the list and deletes your address.
- You may decline, but then we cannot send you the newsletter.
- Language: there is a separate list for each form language (English · 中文 · 日本語 · 한국어).
Emails to us
- Emails sent to hello@ainewground.com (sender address, name and content) are used to answer questions, tips and correction requests.
- We keep them only as long as needed to handle them and then delete them, unless the law requires a longer period.
Service providers
- Stibee Inc. (Republic of Korea): stores newsletter subscribers' email addresses and sends the newsletter. See Stibee's privacy policy for how it processes data.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): domain name service and forwarding of mail sent to hello@ainewground.com.
- Google LLC (USA): stores forwarded mail in Gmail. Font files (Google Fonts) are also loaded from Google servers, and Google processes site analytics (Google Analytics 4).
- Vercel Inc. (USA): website hosting. When a page is served, your IP address, time and browser information may be recorded in Vercel's server logs.
Transfers outside Korea
- Data transferred: sender address, name and content of emails sent to us.
- Destination, timing and method: to the USA and other countries where Cloudflare and Google operate servers, over the internet at the time you send the email.
- Recipients: Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) and Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA); contact them through their privacy policies.
- Purpose and retention: forwarding and storing mail; retention as described under "Emails to us".
- How to refuse: do not send email to hello@ainewground.com. You can still read all articles and market maps.
gptssam.com (instructor page)
gptssam.com also follows this policy. That page collects only the following:
- Email addresses entered in its newsletter form: stored by Stibee Inc. and used only to send the ainewground newsletter (including news from the instructor "Ssam"). You can unsubscribe anytime with the link at the bottom of every email.
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4): pages viewed, the referring link, approximate location (city level), browser and device type. Google uses the IP address only to estimate location and does not store it (GA4 default); Google signals are off. Cookies _ga and _ga_* remain for up to two years. Google LLC (USA) processes this data under Google's privacy policy. To opt out, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or block cookies and scripts in your browser.
- Ad measurement (Meta Pixel): used to measure Instagram and Facebook ads. It sends the page address, the previous page address and time, two events ("page view" and "newsletter form submitted"), browser and device information, IP address and a cookie identifier. No name or email is sent; advanced matching and automatic events are off. The _fbp cookie remains for 90 days after your last visit. If your browser's time zone is in Europe or unknown, the pixel is not loaded at all. The data goes directly from your browser to Meta Platforms, Inc. (1 Meta Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA), which may keep event data for up to two years under its Business Tools Terms. To opt out, block third-party cookies or clear site data, or change "Activity information from ad partners" in Facebook/Instagram Accounts Center → Ad preferences. The page and the form keep working either way.
